Me! Getting the most out of counselling or supervision is influenced by the relationship you have with the person you're working with, and I think having a good fit matters enormously. You need to feel comfortable enough to be yourself, ask questions, explore your emotions and talk openly about the things that are difficult.
In addition, I bring more than 15 years of experience working across mental health and safeguarding roles. I've worked with people who are finding life stressful, navigating significant life transitions and changes, and those experiencing complex mental health difficulties and periods of crisis. My experience spans the NHS, voluntary sector and higher education, giving me a broad understanding of the different circumstances and pressures that can bring someone to counselling or supervision.
Over the years, I've learned that often what matters most is feeling able to let your guard down and be open. You don't need to have the right words, know exactly what you need or present a polished version of yourself. Whether you're coming to counselling because something feels difficult or you're a practitioner bringing something complicated to supervision, I want you to feel able to be honest about what's really going on.
Alongside my professional experience, I am a BACP-registered counsellor (MBACP) and hold a Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision. I trained as an integrative counsellor with a person-centred foundation, allowing me to draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on what you need rather than expecting you to fit one particular model.
I also have specialist training and experience in fertility, pregnancy and baby loss, including supporting people through fertility treatment, IVF, miscarriage, pregnancy after loss and the transition to parenthood. I have completed the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA) Foundation course in Fertility Counselling and the Foundation for Infant Loss Advanced Practitioner training.
For supervision, my experience extends beyond counselling practice. I have spent the last eight years working within a large university mental health and wellbeing team, including line managing Mental Health Advisors, developing service policies and procedures and working as a safeguarding lead. This gives me first-hand understanding of the complexity of mental health, wellbeing, welfare and safeguarding roles, particularly within higher education.
Ultimately, I want you to feel that you can be yourself with me. That's where meaningful counselling and useful supervision can begin.
